ROUND CUT
Trees are our heroes!
What material builds our homes, our schools, our hospitals and businesses and much, much more? Most of the time it's wood, lumber and it's renewable. It plays a huge role in our economy. There are other choices in building materials but trees are widely used to build humanity a home. Trees tell a story of how old they as every year they grow a ring and being able to smell the fresh cut of wood is marvelous sensation. Trees embrace animals who live in the forest by providing food and shelter. We've become dependent on these magnificent mass of wood bearing trees for jobs, woodworking, crafts, and the list goes on. Plus the simple pleasure to watch them grow and feel their shade in the summer heat. We're captivated by their striking colors of its leaves in the season of fall, and enjoy the natural sculpturing of the snow when it lands on the leafless branches. Trees are our heroes!
When nature and human kind combine their art together they can create remarkable work. Trees give us wood to keep us warm, be carved into dishes, animals, people and the creative combinations of the two don't go unnoticed. Debbie's photograph of HEART CUT was inspired by log decks that exposed the ends where each tree was cut down.
Debbie is a passionate and dedicated artist who puts a lot of emotional energy into her work. It's great that she is her own biggest fan and takes pride in what she creates. However, it's understandable that she may feel disappointed if her art doesn't receive the recognition she hoped for. Debbie needs to remember that the value of her art doesn't depend solely on how others react to it. Creating something meaningful and beautiful can be a rewarding experience in itself, even if it doesn't receive widespread recognition. And while it's natural to want others to appreciate her work, it's also important for Debbie to find joy in the creative process and to continue pursuing her artistic vision. It's also worth noting that self-doubt and questioning one's abilities are normal experiences, even for highly skilled professionals. It's okay for Debbie to have moments of uncertainty or to feel like she's the only one who appreciates her work. What's important is that she continues to push forward and create, knowing that her art has the potential to touch someone's life in a meaningful way.
It's great Debbie had a positive experience using her skills as a photographer to help someone else. It's also wonderful that technology enabled her to complete the job remotely and save the gentleman time, money, and energy. He lived 500 miles away and it was winter. It's a testament to the power of technology and the opportunities it can provide for people to connect and work together, regardless of distance. Debbie's willingness to take on the job and provide a valuable service shows her professionalism and dedication to her craft. It's always fulfilling to be able to use one's skills to make a difference for others.
It was midafternoon on a weekday when Debbie received a phone call, but she didn't recognize the name and didn't answer it. The person left a message and when she listened to it she returned his call and he offered her a job photographing a log deck (A log deck is an area in a sawmill or lumber processing facility where logs are stored and sorted before they are processed into lumber or other wood products.) he was considering on purchasing. She said she could do that. Debbie's husband, who knew more about logs than she did, came along to help her. They got to the large field with long rows and rows of logs stacked as high as a one story building at least. It was like walking among giants. The air was filled with the fresh smell of the forest with a hint of fresh cut wood. It was a cold, overcast afternoon and they did some hiking around the log decks to get the best shots. Debbie took photos in many angles, up close, far away to get a good perspective that was requested. In doing this, Debbie noticed the cut end of the trees had interesting shapes and textures. When she saw one shaped almost like a heart, she was inspired to find more artistic shapes. She felt she could make something special from them and did. Debbie's creative side had been ignited by the logs' interesting shapes and textures, and she couldn't wait to explore it further. Using her photography skills, she took pictures of each piece from different angles, highlighting the intricate patterns and textures of the wood.
Debbie was rewarded by being appreciated and recognized by this gentleman. She rewarded herself by creating a unique collection of log cuts wall art and for discovering the value of the art being in the eye of the beholder. It's also great to know that her work has found a satisfied audience and that she has received a five-star review on her Google site. Positive feedback like this can be a great motivator to continue pursuing her passions and creative pursuits. Debbie continues to work her art into the heart and homes of others.
