DEBBIE L LIND, PHOTOARTISAN, is the name of my business. I've been capturing the beauty of life through my lens since I was 15 and now, as a business, since 2011. My recent journey to Glacier National Park in mid-September, with my husband, was a testament to my passion. The trip, planned a year ago, was delayed because a devastating hail storm destroyed our small community. Roofs, cars, RVs, lives were compromised and left some homeless. We cancelled our trip to take care of the community and us. A year later, we made plans again to go to Glacier. As a photographer, capturing the beauty of nature is my passion, and this trip gave me the thrill of an adventure to do so.

One of the activities we did was taking the scenic tour drive up GOING TO THE SUN ROAD in a historic Red Bus. At one time, they were also known as "Red Jammers" and first started operating in 1936. They have become an iconic symbol of Glacier National Park. Taking that four hour tour engaged my photography in an unforgettable way. The sight of the awe-inspiring landscape was both breathtaking and, at times, nerve-wracking. The road, though magnificent, left little room for error, and the sheer drops made it a true test of nerves. It felt like one of those "I survived" moments, etched in memory. The open-top Red Bus allowed us to appreciate the scenery more intimately. We were prepared for fickle mid-September weather, but much to our delight, the fall colors were beginning to emerge. Our knowledgeable driver made frequent stops for taking photographs, which added to the experience. As we approached Logan Pass, the weather took a turn, and the canvas cover had to be closed on the Red Bus due to wind, rain, and even snow. But it was a comfort to stay warm and dry while the driver continued to share the park's history and navigate the challenging road.

The vistas along GOING TO THE SUN ROAD were nothing short of breathtaking, especially with the fall colors emerging. Majestic mountains, pristine lakes, and vibrant fall colors painted the landscape. The sheer beauty of it all left an indelible mark on my heart and camera. The crisp mountain air was refreshing, invigorating our spirits as we absorbed the natural wonders around us. The rocky barriers that flanked the road were a connection to the history of this place, reminding us of the timelessness of the park. As the weather turned cold, we could feel the chill in the air, adding a sense of wildness to our journey.

I channeled my creative energy into my design titled "GLACIER NATIONAL PARK GOING TO THE SUN ROAD," where I skillfully incorporated a map of Glacier National Park alongside the iconic Red Bus. I meticulously photographed and miniaturized the bus, positioning it as if it were traversing the picturesque GOING TO THE SUN ROAD, mirroring the stunning beauty of Lake McDonald. Additionally, I thoughtfully included a separate depiction of the Red Bus below the map, set against the backdrop of Lake McDonald. The map itself is surrounded by the distinctively colored rocks that are synonymous with Lake McDonald's renowned allure within Glacier National Park.

I hope that my visit to Glacier National Park isn't just a one-time experience, but one that paves the way for return trips in the future.
