I've spent over 45 years behind the camera lens, capturing the world's beauty and moments in time. In 2011, I redirected my focus towards landscapes, animals, flowers, and more, with the intention of turning my photography into a source of art to add to the well-being for your home. Art whether it is viewed or created nourishes positive feelings.

My purpose as a photographer is to freeze moments that tell stories, to create art that resonates with the human soul. I want my work to transport you to distant places and inspire emotions, to turn a simple image into a gateway to worlds unknown. But my photography journey has not been without its challenges. Nature's unpredictability, the quirks of equipment, and the fleeting nature of the perfect shot are constant companions. Doubt has crept in, technical obstacles have arisen, and capturing the essence of life in a single frame can be elusive.

One summer morning, as I savored my coffee on the deck, I had the privilege of witnessing a remarkable quail. With my camera at my side, I lived on the cusp of a lush forest, and you never quite knew what would emerge from those woods. This quail, perched on a volcanic rock, was a sight to behold. I was fortunate that my camera was close by, as quails are known for their skittish nature. With the right lens, I captured a sharp, close-up image of this heroic-looking bird, his feathers and colors standing out in exquisite detail.

As I gazed at the quail, I heard his distinctive calls echoing through the air. Those calls held the promise of more, and soon, a small flock of hens and more male quails joined him. The symphony of their calls became the soundtrack to this remarkable encounter. In this photograph, you can almost hear the quail's calls, a reminder of the captivating sounds of the wild.

Although photography primarily engages the visual sense, the tactile element is also present. I felt the soft warmth of the summer breeze on my skin as I focused on capturing this quail's essence. The sense of touch extends beyond the physical, reaching into the feeling of connection with the natural world, a connection I hope to convey through my work.

While the sense of smell may not be directly portrayed in a photograph, the memories and emotions associated with a moment can evoke scents and feelings. The fresh forest air that surrounded me as I photographed this quail is something I can still recall when I revisit this image. The photograph carries with it the essence of the natural world and the fragrances of the forest.

The sense of taste may seem distant from photography, yet it plays a role in the overall experience. As I sipped my morning coffee, the quail's presence added a touch of unexpected flavor to the moment. The taste of anticipation, the hint of excitement, was palpable as I witnessed this quail's visit. This shot has become a favorite among those who now have it hanging in their homes. Living near a forest in a rural community has allowed me to witness the beauty of wildlife journeys in my backyard. This photograph stands as a testament to the wonders of country life and the simplicity and beauty it holds.
