THE CODE OF WESTERN SLANG OF DAYS GONE BY HAVE STUCK AROUND

I'm Debbie and I've been a photographer for over four decades. In my lifetime, I've heard some cowboy slang but never really thought much about it like when it got started, why, and I even use it now and again. Well, I RECKON, back in the days of the Old West, cowboy slang wasn't just fancy talk; it was the cowboy way of getting things done on the ranch. Life on the frontier was tough, and when you're out there in the wild, wrangling cattle and mending fences, you need a language that cuts through the dust and gets straight to the point. Cowboy lingo was all about efficiency and clarity – no room for misunderstandings when you're dealing with ornery critters and vast landscapes.

It wasn't just about communication; it was a melting pot of cultures. Cowboys hailed from all walks of life – different backgrounds, different tongues. Cowboy slang acted like a bridge, bringing all of them together, making sure every cowboy, no matter where he came from, understood the job at hand.

Loneliness was a constant companion on the range. Cowboys spent long, hard hours in isolation, with only their trusty steeds and fellow cowboys for company. The slang became more than just words; it became a part of cowboy identity, a shared code that strengthened the bonds of camaraderie among them. It was their way of saying, "I understand you, partner."

The cowboy lifestyle, with its unique language, became a tradition that defined us. It wasn't just a job; it was a way of life. The slang contributed to the creation of a distinct cowboy identity – rugged, self-reliant, and deeply connected to the land and livestock they tended. It was their badge of honor, worn with pride as they rode into the sunset.

Now, you might wonder if that cowboy slang is still kicking around today. Well, in the fast-paced world we live in, things have changed. Technology and modern equipment play a bigger role, but there's still a place for the cowboy way. The life I have in a rural community, those who live and breathe the cowboy culture, still pepper our speech with those old terms. It's a nod to the past, a way of honoring country cowboy roots, and keeping the spirit of the cowboy alive – in every conversation and every ride under the big, open sky.

This option is available in 8x10 inches, 11x14 inches or 16x20 inches.
They are designed to be placed in a glass frame, which can be purchased separately (starting at a
few dollars at your local Target or
online).

2) Ready to Hang Canvas are ready to hang right out of the box with zero assembly required.
Ultimate convenience.
Gorgeous finished look. It comes out of the shipping box finished and ready to hang with a simple
nail in the wall.
Canvas Prints are a well-known, high-end way of displaying photographs.
.75/1.5 inch thick (depending on size of print ordered) wooden stretcher-bars that give it shape, in
the same way an oil painting is traditionally assembled. There are no staples or
ugly lines visible on the sides (very important).
